A highly scaleable, cost-effective enterprise Electronic Data Deliverable (EDD) management system has been developed to provide government project managers and industry consultants the ability to rapidly and effectively evaluate the progress of environmental restorations of contaminated geographic locations. The system provides automated EDD acceptance, validation, and database import by standardizing data delivery formats. The system includes an interface for real-time data discovery and monitoring.
Current site characterization software technologies provide highly-trained professionals essential desktop tools for solving environmental management problems. The enterprise system integrates and builds upon these vital technologies by providing automated front-end data loading of chemical and geological data into a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS). Electronic deliverables containing site, location, sample, and result data are seamlessly imported without manual user intervention, permitting real-time access to shared data for making mission-critical environmental decisions. Automating electronic data delivery facilitates real-time data discovery and remedy performance notices. The enterprise system may be configured to discover and deliver reports or warnings that reflect remedy performance. The monitoring data can be automatically analyzed to detect trends within individual wells, grouping of wells (source area grouping or site-wide grouping), or trends associated with plume metrics. The monitoring data will also be automatically analyzed to detect exceedences of statistical bounds that indicate whether a plume is getting better or worse, compliance standards are exceeded, or if site-wide cleanup standards have been met. Tailored reports and remedy performance notices may be delivered to the appropriate staff within the organization via a variety channels, including email delivery, browsable web pages, and electronic file transfer. The enterprise system utilizes cutting-edge Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) and .NET technologies and supports well defined United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) data standards through the use of XML and Web Services. The system is platform independent, supporting Microsoft Windows, Linux, and UNIX operating systems.
